Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for you guys who help a lot.

I got my COPR today. I need some of your time about few things about Landing. I am temporary resident with Open work permit currently.

I got PNP-CEC candidate form Ontario. I am currently residing in Montreal-Quebec and all the correspondence done with my Montreal address. I am doing job here too.

As I am PNP for Ontario and on my COPR the Province of Dest: is Ontario and City of Dest: is Ottawa.

What will happen at the time of Landing and what questions CBSA officer will ask us. Which address I give him for PR cards.

Will I move to Ontario (Ottawa) right now and sign the lease.

Can I move to Cornwall and do landing from there.

Me and my family already have Quebec Medicare card and my kid is in school too in Montreal.

Kindly suggest best action for me as I can move now or can use some of my friend address for landing and move in few months after finishing things here in Montreal.

What sort of papers or proof is OK.

Thanks.

I think that is true about the taxation.
And You can re-enter Canada without PR card provided you apply & get an alternate travel document(along with COPR-copy) from CHC which is nothing but another Visa. One of my friend did that.

Really helped to gain an insight. Thanks for the link too. very useful. While doing a CIIP session, an officer told that If I return Canada after an absence of more than one year, the CAD that I would carry with me will be heavily taxed. I was shocked to know that. Is it then true?

But if your PR card is issued, you will not get PRTD, unless you report that card lost or stolen, and ofcourse apply for a replacement card. Best bet is to ask your relative to send ur card via courier

You can reenter Canada without PR card even via US, provided you have valid visa... Or ... If you have your own jet.

Before leaving Canada my PR card would not have come. How can I re enter then???

Hi BanuManu4786,

Yes! There are definitely a few ways of doing it

1) Without PR Card. You cannot use commercial vehicle. You will have to apply for PRTD. You cannot apply for PRTD inside Canada. You have to apply for PRTD from outside Canada ( @ nearest Canadian Embassy)

2) You can always enter Canada without PR card or PRTD, if you are crossing border by foot or via private vehicle (such as car or plane), by only presenting CoPR and Passport. Many people do cross borders by foot @ Niagra Falls

Kindly bear in mind that PRTD is only issued to an applicant whose PR card application is still in process (i.e. not yet printed). If your PR Card is valid, you will not be issued PRTD. So, I would suggest the moment you land in US, apply for PRTD from your nearest Canadian Embassy.

Hi. I have a quick question. Me and my wife will be driving from Buffalo International airport to Toronto. What is the best suggested route? What are the things that I should keep in mind? What documents to carry besides COPR & Passport?

Re: LANDING IN CANADA ??? -All You Need To Know: ISSUES during short landing

FSWON said:
Dear Experts:

Anyone who is experienced or faced the same situation, if could help me in the regard below:

(1) I will be performing a short landing for a week in Toronto in June. I have certain responsibilities back home and plan to make the permanent move in the beginning of 2018.

(2) My Goods to carry list will include almost nothing - what usually a tourist carries - baby stuff, some personal belongings and all.

(3) My Goods to follow list is almost uncertain since the actual move will be performed quite a bit later. However, I will buy HP laptops before I move -model numbers are not yet known. Should I just mention brand name and approximate value?

(4) The jewellery pictures will be taken. However, I might sell some jewellery before the actual move. Will it be a problem then?

(5) As I will move later in 2018, I will sell some of my assets, say for example - my car, and take the cash during permanent move. What will happen then? Will the CBSA treat the money as new comers' fund?

I would really appreciate your views on the above issues. Please enlighten me. Seeking help from Qorax too, if you are available.

Thank you mates!

regards.
1. Goods to carry list does not required. Only pictures of jewellery is enough with estimated price in CAD dollars.
2. Add what ever you can think of in goods to follow list. It does not matter what is in it. You can bring rest of your stuff even later on after many years.
3. Even put funds in goods to follow list, if CBSA officer ask you for that you can tell him that I will brought them here once I open my account here and after selling my assets from back home.
other wise convert your funds in gold, and mention it in goods to follow list. Goods to follow list should be like you are prince so no worries if you have those things with you right now or you can buy those after years.
No worries

Hi Guys,

I need an urgent advice. I want to complete my and my family landing formalities in Canada shortly (few weeks time). as per understanding so far, although Toronto is mentioned as port of entry (POE) on our CORPs but we can land anywhere in Canada except Quebec, right?

We are planning to land in Calgary. Is it possible to provide an address in Toronto for the delivery of our PR cards, even if we land in Calgary and return from there next day after completing PR formalities?

POE Toronto and Address Calgary (can be used vice versa)

If you are going to change your address, you can use Change my address form at any time.

You can take ANY form of currency with you. However, you must know how much of THAT currency is equivalent in CAD.

E.G. If you are carrying US$8000, it is equivalent to CA$10,242. If any amount of currency exceeds CA$10,000, you MUST declare it on your Declaration Card (given to you inside plane, before you land). It can be a combination of multiple currencies added together.

Do I have to fill any forms? No. If you plan to bring goods through cargo, or on a subsequent trip, then fill B4 forms. Otherwise, nothing.
If i take gold worth of $1000 and I disclose it do I have to pay any tax? No. All imports during first two trips are duty free.
Your reply will be appreciable.

I have read that the in order to keep PR valid

1. we have to complete 730 days (2 years) within the 5 year period.

2. stay at least 180 days (6 months) per year.

Do both of the above conditions need to be fulfilled?
