Hey guys,

I have a family of three. Is it really necessary to provide 18000 Canadian dollar proof of fund while landing? I have 10000 which I can show via Travelers Cheque. What can be done to show further 8000 Cad? ( I have house(not loan free) and gold jewelry)
Please suggest.

Thanks
Yes, it is necessary to show required POF. For you it is 18260CAD.
The immigration officer may or may not ask you to show it.
But if he does and you fail to show it, you will be deported and barred from entering Canada for a few years.

This is correct. It should also be noted that settlement funds consist of unencumbered, liquid or easily liquifiable funds, but you need not actually carry the required amount with you.

This is misinformation. If you can't show proof of funds, the CBSA agent can and most probably will refuse to complete your landing and/or refuse you entry. This is NOT the same as deportation & a ban.

However, one could incur a ban if CIC determines that one misrepresented one's POF in one's application.

Property can in some cases be used : you would need a professional valuation of the property and official documentation showing mortgage amount, and how much you still owe.

How much did you declare in your application, and what proof did you provide?

How can you say it is misinformation. Whats the difference between being deported and not allowed entry by CBSA agent. :O ...
Also, if one fails to prove POF at point of entry, it is very likely that there will be an enquiry by CIC which will result in a ban for few years.

I would also like to add that using property docs etc for landing is a very bad idea.
Most of Visa offices do not accept property documents even during initial application.

So far, I have come to know about only LVO accepting property docs.

Also, things like property, provident fund, mutual funds, etc are only accepted for initial application.
Because then you are saying that you will be able to withdraw and encash them when you finally land.

You would be taking big risk to use mutual funds, pf, ppf, property docs etc as POF for landing.
The most sensible thing is to carry enough cash, bank statements, travellers cheque etc.

This is just my opinion. If someone wants to take chance, more power to them.

Congrats, but how did the officer fill the COPR without asking you any questions?

He got our Canada address from Declaration card and that's it. Handing over our documents back, he said welcome to Canada

Guys,

I have got my passport after stamping few months back. I had to travel middle east for an ongoing project. When I came back the Arab immigration guy put the exit stamp on my Immigrant Visa. Should I be worried ? I am planning to land next month. Please advise.

Hello all

I want to salute the courage of all members especially qorax. We have our visa n COPR and planning to do short landing in September.
I have a few questions

1. Is it possible/ok for my husband who is the PA to do short landing in August, leave Canada for a business trip and then we(myself and three kids) do our landing in September while he is out of Canada?

2. All he(my husband) has as POF are bank statements and debit cards to those accounts we have in our country and USA. I have read on this thread that we need Bank drafts, traveler's cheque etc for show of POF. I hope what he has will be accepted so far it exceeds the amount he needs to show.

Thanks again

IMM5292 is the COPR you get from Visa Office. You should have already received it I guess.
