Thank you Leon, this is really awesome!! Really, this forum makes me feel warm and cozy. Your replies are so clear that the cobwebs disappear.

However, i'm a little despondent at this moment. The road for Int'l Medical Graduates is really tough not just for a career in medicine but even allied health services. Who could imagine that one would need a two year course for laboratory technician or an ultrasound technician or even as a massage therapist. Oh well!! In this last 1 year since getting my PR i've not been able to identify the work that i'm fit for. Nothing. It seems.
All this doesn't detract from my gratitude for you, Leon. Thank you.

You are welcome and don't despair about the job situation. You will surely find something you are qualified for. However, don't just look where you are living now. Also look outside your province. I remember a nurse saying not too long ago that she found it a lot easier to find a job in AB than in BC where she'd first moved so she ended up going there. Don't limit yourself to one city or one province.

Lots of Indians choose Brampton. Mississauga is also quite a nice place to stay. August is summer time so the temperature will be warm, it starts getting a little bit cooler by end of September..

How much i have to carry for POF being a single applicant? If I carry solely in Travel currency Debit card, say 5000 CAD issued by Axis Bank or State Bank of India, will they accept that as POF? Bank will give stamped account statement. Moreover the card is not usable at India. At POE, will the Immigration officer accept it as POF?

Yes you can, I carried with me Cads/USD, it was no problem

Hi Explorer, below is the table of proof of funds, try to bring Demand Draft, Travelers Checks or Cash (USD or Cad), bank statements/debit/credit cards may not do the job, and is not suggested, you may try to open a Scotia bank account from India, I think they have branches there, check their website also.

You show your documents on your first point of entry in Canada. If the first city you come to is Toronto, you do it there because when you fly from Toronto to Edmonton it will be a domestic flight and you will not go through immigration again.
