Hi All,

I will do my landing from inside Canada (Halifax) next month. My question is: "Do I need a US visa to go to a US border and come back to do the landing?".

Thanks a lot!

Are you going to complete the landing at the CIC office in Halifax OR are you going to travel by road to the U.S. border and turn around?

If you are travelling by road to the U.S. border, you will NOT require a U.S. visa. You will be denied entry to the U.S. (without prejudice) and then return to Canada. Expect to wait at least 1 hour to complete the paperwork.

You can land in Halifax at the CIC office, too, without going to the CIC office. Call 888-242-2100 to make an appointment.

Thanks gte439u. I am going to land by going to US border.

Hi Halloven,

I did not even bother going to the US embassy to apply for a visa or any stuff like that. I just went directly to the Fort Erie bridge, and kept driving to the US borders to tell them that i am just turning back to Canada to do my landing, and that was a mistake because after they kept me for almost 2 hours to give me the refusal letter, i found out later that i could have turned back to Canada before i reach the US border, and do my landing without wasting my time waiting for the US refusal letter.

It looks like If you go through the Fort Erie bridge, no need even to reach the US borders.

Good luck.
