We are landing in Ontario by car. Do we really need to have $10,000+ on us in cash?! That seems insane to us! We have the finances to support ourselves, but in cash?!

Thank you. You’re sure sure sure? The landing documents we have say we need cash but it seems crazy. Is it out of date? They say travelers checks, money orders or cash. We can provide lots of bank info.

Strange. They usually don't ask for any proof of funds while landing, but it is good to have latest bank statements. You just need to prove that you have the access to those funds, for which bank statements should be enough.
Why would they ask cash and that too 10k+? You need to declare the money if you are bringing physical cash (if it is more than 10k), and it might have other implications. As per https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...nada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html "Canadian customs regulations require you to declare if you're bringing more than CAN$10,000 into Canada. If you don't tell them, you may be fined, and your funds could be seized. "
