We(me and my spouse)drove and reached the US Border around 7:40 PM. The officer, at the booth asked for our passports, both of us have US visa. The officer asked us what was the purpose of the visit?, we replied that, we wanted to do landing as permanent residents in Canada, so we just want to pass through and go back to Canada. The officer, instructed us to go inside the building. We went inside, there were 2 other people being serviced at that moment. We were called by one of the CBP officer, he insisted that since you only want to land today, there is no reason for him to issue I-94’s for us, rather he would just give us the refusal letter and send us on our way back. We agreed, he then issued us a letter, asked us to wait inside, while he drove our car, across the toll booth, so that we don’t need to pay toll. Then came back and escorted us to our car, wished us good luck. The officer was really very courteous and helpful.

We drove to the Canadian border; there were few cars in the booth line ups. When our turn came, we pulled up, gave our passports and the refusal letter to the officer in the booth, he asked us, where we lived, and what is our current visa category? We replied and also informed them that we want to land as Permanent residents today. He gave us a yellow slip and asked us to park in front of the immigrations building, and wait for an officer to greet us. We followed the instructions and an officer asked us to show the yellow slip. He then asked us to go inside.

We went inside, there were 2-3 people, paying taxes on the purchases they had made in the US. We stood in the line, when our turn came we informed the officer, the purpose of our visit, he asked us to submit our passports and CoPR’s and sit for some time. After few minutes, he called us, asked us who the primary applicant was , I said, I was. He filled up details in the original CoPR and the copy, and then asked me to initial 2 places in the COPR, and sign and date in the bottom. Same process was repeated for my wife. Then, he confirmed our mailing address, and said your PR cards would arrive at this address. He then congratulated us and asked, since you have been living here for several years, would you like to bring something from the home country, if you do, we need to address it today. We said, no we donot have anything that we would like to bring. After that, he smiled and welcomed us to Canada and sent us on our way.

Staffs at both the borders was really good. :)

Hope it helps!
