Just wondering if anyone has requested or required an extension to the time given for you to land in Canada.
I won't bore you with the finer details but we didn't strictly follow procedure and we had the medical done before sending our application off (we thought this was how we were supposed to do it).
My husband has had his PPR but the medical will have expired now.
I have read that we could be granted an extension or they might request the medical to be done again.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I was just wondering if they will be more likely to request a new medical or extend. And if they do extend it, how long do they typically do it for?

I have phoned and sent a message online about 3 weeks ago but I haven't had an answer back.

We are both living abroad and I am anxious to know if we need to move quick or if we will have a few months to tie things up.

Thanks in advance!

If they were going to request a new medical, they would request it prior to your husband getting DM and PPR. The fact that he has received those means they chose to grant him an extension. (The same thing recently happened to me). I haven’t received my COPR yet, but from what I understand, lately they are typically extending it for one full year.

Revisions to the expiry date on the COPR are very rarely granted.

thanks for your reply. So you are saying that once he receives the COPR it will have the 'extended' date on it?
I hope it is a year- that would be amazing!

I got my medical done 6 months before we sent in our application. (Medical was done December 2015, application sent in June 2016). I was approved March 2017. My medical had expired by then, but it was never a problem. They didn't ask me for an extension or a new one.
According to my COPR, I had to land before September 2017 (almost 2 years after I did my medical), so for me, it wasn't an issue. I was a healthy 26-year old, though, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Can anyone tell how long it took for PPR or COPR after medical extension.
My medical extended but no PPR yet .

Just wanted to update. We got the letter on Monday and we have until September to move. As someone mentioned, we didn't have to request this, it was automatically done.
Thanks everyone for the help!
