Landing canada by car to get PR and reapply for US visa to get back

Hello,
I am a student in US On a single entry visa and I have to land in canada and get my PR and get back to US after 1 month to finish my sudying. I just wonder if I can drive by my own car. Do I need to import my car? Considering the fact that my US visa expires as soon as I leave the country. And I am going to reapply for my visa after I land. Do the officers ask about your american visa also at the border?
I really dont know what to do. Please give me an advise
