Hi To All,
I am planning to complete my land in Canada by the 1st of September. i am going to land in Toronto, any advice for those who have landed there?

1: How to carry the proof of funds? Cash or bank draft?
2. i have enough money and i am thinking to put some in Canadian dollars and the rest into Euros . Is it possible?

Thanks and waiting for any suggestions.

Travelers Cheqs are the best way.
in addition to other papers, You'll need 2 photo ID documents (passpoer, Medical form, etc) to open your account. keep coin of $2.25/2.50 for releasing a trolley at the Pearson airport.

I am confused now. i have heard you do not need any pictures. please those who landed in Toronto should help me out.

waiting.

you dont need photos while landing, but documents with photos to open Bank accounts.
e.g : Driving licence , Passport

Thanks very much, I do not know which bank is the best in canada,

Try Scotia bank; they presently have the best package for new immigrants. It's called the "start right program"; you can look it up on google. Also, pls ensure you have enough money to take care of your needs pending the time your draft clears, 'cause it can take as long as 6 weeks at some banks. I'd also advise that you take out your drafts in Canadian dollars as it will probably take longer if taken out in some other currency.....

Please note that it will take up to 6-8weeks for bank draft to clear into accessible fund in your Canadian account. If you are coming from eurozone, you can make electronic transfer from your euro account to your Canadian account. From my experience ,electronic transfer takes 2-3days only!

Louth.

Feels like you have not traveled a lot or never lost any cash currency while you were in International roaming.
Travelers cheques are the best way to carry funds for the new immigrants.

Card cannot be validated instantly by an Immigration Officer.
Taking Cash is okay if you can ensure their safety of possession.
