Delighted to share that we finally received confirmation of my husbands PR on Friday! :D ;D

It's been quite the journey (small compared to some here I know!) and we are very happy. We did outside Canada and he is here in Vancouver. The letter referred him to CIC call center for what to do next.

The lady today told him that the fastest way would be to go to YVR International and clear US immigration and then 'land' in Canada. Has anyone ever heard of this done successfully? I 'm a bit lost as to how one might get through US immigration and customs without a ticket and even be allowed through but maybe there is a secret door especially for these purposes??

Anyone more familiar with this as a suggested process?

Very best to you all.

Sarah

Flagpoling cant be done at airports..drive to peace arch and get it done there. You have COPR right?

Like the previous poster said, what you were advised to do is called flagpoling. This cannot be done at an airport, only at a land border.

1. Drive to the nearest border.
2. Exit Canada but before entering US ask for an administrative refusal from US border agent. Mention the intention to flagpole for landing as a new immigrant.
3. Return to Canadian border. Your husband then tells the CBSA agent he is there to land as an immigrant.

There is another option, but that can take weeks due to long waiting times. You can make an appointment to land at an office downtown. Not sure if it's the CBSA office and don't know which number you need to call. Maybe other members that have done this before can tell you how to proceed.

Good luck.
