hi guys

1. I am in Canada, waiting for my COPR to come by courier (applied by OUTLAND, common law), and I was wondering, as I am pretty sure I've read about it: can I land at airport, even if I was not flying? I am in Toronto. Yes, i know I can go to Niagara, but going to the airport is much cheaper...

2. Also: what will I need with me? Do I need stuff like proof of funds and proof of address, and anything except my passport and COPR? I am confused, as I read some stuff, but I believe there were topics for "inland landing interview", so advices given there does not necessarily apply. Please, advice me.
I know about list of goods to follow, but what else?

thanks :)

You can't land at an airport unless you're flying on an international flight (not domestic). So you only have 2 options:
1. Flagpole at a land border
2. Book an appt with CIC to land at a local CIC office. Based on availability this could be a couple months wait.

All you need to land is your COPR, passport, and B4 forms if you're importing anything.

I haven't seen anything that specifically says you can't land at an airport without flying in. There is one big problem though: how are you going to get past security into the secure international arrivals section where they screen passengers?

Best to just suck it up and head west down the QEW! Besides, factoring in traffic and parking, driving to the border might be cheaper and quicker! :)

thanks, guys :)
i don't have a car, and taking bus to Niagara will not be cheaper than TTC to the airport (3 bucks there, 3 bucks back ;)), but I guess this is the way to do it then. I just thought that there is some CIC office at the airport, in general area, not past security check, but if not, then Niagara it is :)

Are you thinking of taking like a Greyhound bus to Niagara Falls, Ontario and then walking across? Or a bus into the American side?

There is no such CIC office at airports in any general area. Really your only choice is going to Niagara Falls.

To `flagpole' at a land border, you don't [need] to actually enter the U.S.

When you approach the CBP officer, just tell them that you are landing as a PR of Canada and they will [likely] give you an administrative refusal, which basically turns you around and sends you to the CBSA side of the line. It's probably a pain to do by bus, because the bus will leave you at the border and you'll need to make arrangements to catch another bus back home later that day.

Maybe you could hire a friend to drive you instead?

Good luck!

thanks to all of you :)

I am planning to take bus to Niagara (Greyhound), spend there some time, go to Rainbow Bridge, if I remember correctly, cross the border and see Niagara from US side, and come back (on foot), and do the landing on my way back. hope it sounds ok ;)

Sounds fine. All you have to do to 'land' in Canada is leave Canadian territory and then return to 'land'

Congrats on this newest chapter of your life.

Not sure what nationality you are but you may need a visa to enter the US. As a British citizen i know i have to.
