If I live in Canada now and go to the US for just a day and return to become a landed PR, are the items I buy in the US duty exempt?

No, the regular exemptions will apply which for 24 hr is none. Someone on the forum tried doing this and he had to pay the taxes on his landing..

Note: Items manufactured in North America (US, CA and Mexico) are duty free under NAFTA.

Hi, I am an immigrant for a few years already, and i always thought that when i go out of the country, i need to get back thru vancouver which is the port of entry. Now i find cheaper flights but doesn't go thru vancouver when we go back, is it okay to land anywhere in canada??

yes, you can enter the country at any entry. it does not need to always be the same one where you originally landed. if you obtained PR through a provential nomination, i suspect you must maintain residence in that provence for a period of time. regardless, you are free to enter and exit wherever you want.
