I do know that they wont accept laminated birth certificate if the document states it's void once laminated.

Based on other forum posts you should probably assume laminated documents are not accepted for anything. at the risk of your application being returned. Being laminated makes it difficult to determine if a document is authentic especially if the lamination affects any security features which may or may not be present in the original non laminated version..
