I got laid off from my current job as the project was concluded and I was working for a client as T4 contractor. Last week, our paper based family citizenship application was delivered and at that point I was not certain whether this will be concluded or renewed. I am still waiting for AOR, expecting in 2 weeks as per recent trend. But in the form submitted there was 'PRESENT' option in 'TO' field.
My plan is to inform CIC through webform once I receive AOR, but have two following Questions:

  • Would it have impact on submitted citizenship application? I would be looking for opportunities and while being on EI, who knows I would get the job soon within the processing time-frame. Personally, I don't think so as this is the normal in CANADA, but just wanted reassurance from seniors or other people who encountered similar situation?
  • Perhaps irrelevant, or might be too sooner, but just curious about how we come to know our processing office? is it through ECAS/Tracker? I remember during PR it was through GCMS or calling CIC, wonder how it works in Citizenship application?
Any assistance would be highly appreciated thanks!

1- while it is a good idea to inform them of the change in employment, it has no effect whatsoever on the actual citizenship eligibility

2-this one I'm not too sure about, and frankly I don't think these days it can be predicted or known since all processing and test/oath is done virtually...I'm guessing you know based on the emails you receive regarding test or oath..not too sure

Thanks appreciate your response. Agreed about the second, it shouldn't matter much anyways. Thanks again mate!

Sorry to hear about this, but there is no need to inform them through webform nor there is any impact.

If at any case your next correspondence with them would be an interview or even at the oath, then you can inform them.

Your processing office is usually the one that is closest to your address.
