Less than 3 months. Wow!!! That was very fast. I hope your process goes as smooth as it went the first time.
We have no choice, but wait. It is very frustrating that we have to be apart from each other for so long.
Yes it's too long. I'm thankful we are all together in the US. But I'm so anxious to move and start our new lives in Canada. It's hard waiting.

We sent our application today with loads of supporting evidence. Our son should be proof enough that our relationship is genuine. As for the reference letters, we sent 7 reference letters: 4 from friends, 1 from my wife's sister, 1 from my parents, and 1 from my wife's parents. I included them to strengthen our case, but actually, I don't think it will make too much difference.

Don't worry about it! Not sending reference letters won't be a problem!

Good luck!!

It looks like you have strong case and you just sent your application. Best of luck.
Thanks for your response as well.

I am wondering how does the lack of references letters from family and friends could affect the application. We sent our application (spousal) without those because we did not know that we could ask our family and friends to write letters to be used as proof of relationship. Now, I am getting a bit paranoid. Could you please share your opinions and experience.
Thanks
I did not send any reference letters. Just pictures, post marked cards, boarding passes, remittance receipts and I did not have any problem.

It is really important yo have those reference letters specially from your friends, priest, dentist, family members and other significant persons in your lives as a couple. It will help strengthen your case. It is basic requirement. The minimum reference letters required is 8, depends on how you are going to divide it between the two of you. It is a major cause of delay to have not submitted such basic requirement. It can add up to at least 6 months in your waiting as family backgroind checking is at the 3rd stage of the process. Nevertheless, let us hope for something better.
Can you quote where you read that the minimum requirement of reference letters is 8? In my case, we never provided any reference letters just pics, boarding passes, remittance slips and cards and we didn't have problems at all.

I think that's for common law.

So you think it would matter if the person typed their letter or wrote it out by hand? I have a few people who have typed their letters for me...

Doesn't matter as long as they're signed. Possibly notarized.

fireflyers, you should be banished from this forum for disseminating false information and panic among the members. It's not AT ALL a basic requirement for anything whatsoever. I have read all the sponsorship guides carefully and I can say that what you are stating here is false information.

People are already anxious enough here. If you want to fool around, go find yourself a prank website.

Yes, I too thought it was odd to be seeing someone post that reference letters were required. I know for SURE that for spousal sponsorship, there is no mention of reference letter (8 or 100) being a basic requirement. Not sure about a common-law sponsorship....

For spousal sponsorship there is NO requirement for reference letters. But if you have them, they may just strenghten your case, that is all, so do not sweat if you do not have them. I did not have and I do not have any, I provided only what was required per the guide, and for additional proof, we have many pictures together, tons of transcripts from our QQ and YM chats, monthly telephne bills, as we talk each day once or twice, plane tickets, hotel receipts showing both our names, some mail correspondence and that was all.

Best of luck.

Thanks for those who responded by sharing your opinions and knowledge.
At least now, it is clear to me that the ref letters are NOT required for spousal sponsorship.
One less thing to worry about
