Knowing exact PR application status.

How to find the exact stage of the PR application. In ECAS it shows "In Process". As per the ECAS flowchart, for application submitted to Nova Scotia, CIO, the "In process" is after "RECEIVED BY VISA OFFICE" and "VISA OFFICE ELIGIBILITY REVIEW COMPLETE" processes.

Does it means that the above 2 steps have been completed by Visa Office.

Yes. these stages have been completed and hopefully next stage is medical request.

1. In process with a line saying...your file has been reviewed (means two steps completed and medicals letter on the way)
2. In Process with RBVO (Received by visa office) which means though they have changed status to in Process the review is still pending

If it is the 1st one then congrats and you will get your medicals shortly, if it is the 2nd one then welcome to the club.
My status is In Process with RBVO since March 2011 !

As mentioned by Munir, there is no line saying "In Process. Your file has been reviewed" or "In Process with RBVO"

I have the same status on ECAS. it states that "we received your application for permanent residence on the 17th of Aug..."
that's all. I received PER in november. no aor from VO and no file transfer date. I updated address with VO and received an email that address has been updated on their database meaning they have my file at the VO. I am optimistic that MR would be sent soon.

I think some visa officers don't bother to update ECAS. They just work at their own pace and are not bothered that the wait could be killing for the applicant.

It is in process with RBVO, which is just the real in process.

For real in process, when you click on the status it should read something like this

We received your application for permanent residence on xyz

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on xyz. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Your application and supporting documents were received by the New Delhi office. They are pending review.

We transferred your application to the New Delhi office on xyz. The New Delhi office may contact you.

Your application was reviewed and we started processing on xyz.
