Hey guys,

I am very new to this website and I am kinda having some trouble understanding what some people are saying due to the use of abbreviations. I figured out that "ip" means in process and "ndvo" mean New Delhi Visa Office but what is this thing about the phone calls from ndvo and most importantly it would be great if somebody explained to me how ndvo works and what is the step by step process from when cic receives the application.

I am a 2014 applicant and I applied on February 24 and after 32-33 days, me and my wife both got the file number and since then its been in Application Received status. I have been checking the excel sheet here and I noticed that some March as well as some April applicants got status updated to In Process. Why are they taking March applicants when there are Jan or Feb applicants still waiting?

Also one more thing that is unclear to me is that when my wife checks the status on cic website from India, the address is written wrong (everything is correct except house number) and I contacted cic about that and they asked me for file number and what not. They said that they will change the address for their records but wont let us know that its been updated. About a week passed trying to sort this out. Will this cause the file to be pushed down the line for processing?

Any help would be appreciated :)

no one is going to be able to tell you a "step by step" process for what happens when the file gets to a visa office. first, no one here is a visa officer, and second, many offices AND visa officers handle files in different ways, so there is not much consistency. for the most part, files sit around for months before being looked at. the best way to know how new dehli works is to locate the new dehli visa office thread. you may be able to gather information or ask questions there.

again, no one is going to be able to tell you "why" visa offices do certain things. "why" later applications are being processed before others is one of the mysteries of cic.

no, changing your address isn't going to push your application to the back of the line. it's a pretty common thing that happens, and cic instructs applicants to contact them if anything changes, which includes addresses.

Thank you very much!

seriously man, you are much better off posting in the new delhi thread...

This year NDVO(New Delhi Visa Office) has started a new trend, few applicats are getting phone calls from Visa Officiers (VOs) to answer basic generic questions....DOB, Spouse name etc. Check New delhi thread, RKAUR has posted...plz check...smetimes it is refered to as mini-interviews by applicants.....

All applicants are assigned to various VOs. It is rumoured to go through 3 VOs. Medical & genuinity of the marriage is checked...After Second VO's review the file goes to IP and third VO is assigned to check on the file. who does or assigns(thrid party) Background and securtiy checks. Read Sampri's comments or IP to DM process sheet in NDVO 2014 sheet to understand more...

As far as we know, change of address doesnt delay the process.... can you post the detailed timeline,
Medical date, App date, AOR and SA dates?
