Hi again. Just wondering, I stayed in Canada for 95 days and currently out of the country. Will come back after 8months. Are my 95 days stay counted within the 730 days required stay to maintain my PR status? Thanks.

Residence Obligation:

1. PR more than 5 years - you must have 730 days in the 5 year period looking back in respect of any examination where 'examination' means any interaction with CIC/CBSA e.g. port of entry admission, PR Card renewal, Sponsorship etc. (historic looking timeline)

2. PR less than 5 years - you must be able to have 730 days by the 5th anniversary of your landing at any examination. (forward looking timeline)

PR timeline counts from landing date not PR Card issuance date. the 730 days do not have to be consecutive.

There are exceptions for various categories e.g accompanying a Canadian Citizens spouse, serving in the military etc.

Thanks!
Leon, Masafiri, so if in case I come back to Canada in December 2015 and had accumulated 190 days am I still safe meaning, do I keep my PR status? My card expires in June 2018. Thank you!

I see from your other posts that you landed April 16th this year. The first 5 year period where you must meet the residency obligation for is therefore April 16th 2013 - 2018. In December 2015, you still have more than 2 years left until your 5 year PR anniversary April 16th 2018 so you still have time to meet the RO.
