Ok so filling out the forms and yes I have asked similar questions before but I'm gonna lay this all out in hopes someone can guide me.

Live in Jamaica with my hubby. We've decided, as we've been here a while to go abroad. Want to have more kids and such, and Canada can give us a better life.

I work for a company in Canada...but can only do limited amounts here...so working part time. I make about 1600 Canadian a month which is a good wage for me living here...but the amount I make yearly from that is not up to the requirements of Canada for financial sponsership.

I have a full time position waiting for me when I go home though. And the amount I would make would be up to the requirements.

My husband also has a job offer with the same company...and he is working part time with them here in Jamaica.

How do I fill out the financial sponsership forms as someone who lives in Jamaica...and while making a good wage is not up to the amount required to sponser a husband and dependant child???

Second Question:

How do I file for a dependant child? When financially sponsering...do I have to make the required amount to sponser two people?? Or does a dependant child get included with the one adult person I am sponsering. Do I have to fill out a seperate application for the dependant child?

Third Question: When we are in Canada...say I wanted to work part time or less to stay home with kids...and it was still in the period that I was financially responsible...can my husband support us and me work less or am I obligated to work full time and make the required amount until the period ends that I am responsible for them. My husband and I plan on being married for life as it is a love marriage....so we will always be together. But it say's im financially responsible till the child is twenty five. Does that mean I have to work full time till she is twenty five to make the requried amount???

Please help...im sittin here with a pen and these papers confused.

Once I get past the financial part...the rest is fairly straight forward. I know where we are gonna live....records are clean. But I live here...and I don't make the required amount. People rarely make the kind of money I make in this country..let alone the amount required for sponsership.

Omg please help on the financial part...I could about rip my hair out right now!!!!!

Thank you :)

There are no financial requirements for sponsoring a spouse with a dependent child so no need to worry too much about that. If it's for Quebec then that's different though.

Hi SmoothiesQueen.

As suenim said, spouses and dependent children are exempt from the financial requirement, but you will need to show intent to return to live in Canada when they get PR. The job offers are an excellent start. You will also want to show plans for accommodation, if you have those organised already.

Please do come and join us on the Kingston, Jamaica thread where others processing through KG share experiences and encouragement :)

Ok please excuse me if I sound extremly slow.

When I got the immigration package....it said you first have to file a financial sponsership form and if I'm approved I can file the rest. If its denied I will be unable to sponser.

So if there is no financial requirements...the immigration site is way confusing for telling me there is. It told me like twenty some thousand to file for one person. I believe you guys....as everyone here is going through this....I just don't understand why the immigration site tells differently. This process is already enough to turn my hair gray without that lol!!

So the financial sponsership form...do I just not fill it out? Do I get a seperate form to show my intent to return and work and all that???

What forms do I fill out for that...or how to I show them??I know once I get this..it will all seem so simple...but for now its crazy confusing!! How do I prove my ability to support my spouse??? If someone can walk me through how to fill this out and what I do...it would be most appreciated. And if I need to find different forms?? What I need to do...how to do this....arrrg!!!!

Also what is the stuff about my spouse cosigning???

You guys are so great for taking time for my million questions!!

Smoothies what province do you plan on living in?

Smoothies here is the link to the forms you should be filling out. Note also there are region specific guides at the bottom as well. In your case Carribean. I advise you to carefully read through all of the guides.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

You would only have a spouse cosigner say in the case you were sponsoring your parents and you needed to have a certain income for that.

Hey we plan on living in Alberta...the province I was born and raised in!!!

Does it make a difference or only if its Quebec???

Thanks for the link to the forms!!:)

Hey is there a second application after the first one?? Is the sponsership application and the application for permanent residence two seperate things???

Also I see the things where people have to learn about Canada and take a test and swear in...my husband will have to do all that right??

Only a difference in Quebec.

The sponsorship application is to be filled out by you and the permanent residence by your husband and there are a couple forms you both have to sign. Both applications are combined in one apckage and sent to Mississauga together. In Mississauga they will approve you as a sponsor and then forward the application to Jamaica to assess the application for permanent residence.

The test is for when you plan on getting your Canadian citizenship not for permanent residence. So if he plans on doing this he will eventually have to write a test perhaps 4 years in the future :)

There is a sponsorship application and an application for permanent residence, but they are both sent together to the CIC office in Mississauga for outland applications.
On the CIC website they list how much money the sponsor must make to sponsor relatives, but this is only if you are sponsoring your parents, grandparents, etc. When you sponsor a spouse and a dependent child, you do not need to have any income. You still have to fill out the financial info, though, sending proof of your income and Copy C of your income tax.
For a sponsor who is living outside of Canada, you have to prove that you will return to live in Canada with the applicant. There is no special form for this, but the forms do indicate the kinds of proof CIC wants: job offers, proof you have a place to stay, enrollment in school, etc.
