just list down everything you need to get and start ticking off.
The time to get an IELTS exam i think depends on the availability in your area.
don't start getting document one after the other (in a series), do it in parallel.

Good luck and congrats.

(SORRY DELETED THE QUESTION. WANTED TO REPOST IT IN COMMON QUESTIONS TOPIC. POSTING IT HERE AGAIN 'CAUSE YOU REPLIED IT ALREADY)

I got a reply from Sydney. Very exited and worried 'cause non of my documents are ready and I have only 120 days to submit them.
Though I'm currently in the USA they told me to submit my documents to the embassy in my country not to Buffalo. I don't know whether it is good or bad.
So I need to start somewhere. Probably I will start from police certificates first.
Does anyone know how long may it take to register and take IELTS test?

Thanks

I have a question. Should anyone know the answer please reply. This is a requirement for work experience for my country visa office application:

For you (principal applicant), your spouse or common-law partner and
children 18 years of age and older provide:
• workbooks (a photocopy can be notarized by a notary or certified by your
employer)
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your current and past employers
for the last 10 years
• original reference letters for employment not included in your workbooks.

Reference letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company's
full address, telephone, fax numbers and be stamped with the company's official
seal. They should include all of the following information:
• the specific period of your employment with the company
• the positions you held during the period of employment and the time spent in
each position
• your main responsibilities in each position
• your total annual salary plus benefits
• the signature of your immediate supervisor or the personnel officer of the
company
• a business card of the person signing

My question is:

What is the difference between these two?
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your current and past employers
for the last 10 years
• original reference letters for employment not included in your workbooks.

Thanks

uptodate letter is the letter saying when you started, for how long , what you did, what your position was, etc.

letter of employment is the initial offer of employment either offering you the employment or congratulating you in your new job and it might specify the terms of your employment etc.

what is a workbook

Rupesh thanks a lot.

I figured out everything. Workbook is a small book like a passport in my country where they write down all your jobs, so you can show the copy as a proof of your employment. I don't think there is an equivalent in the US.

1) Does anyone know how the embassy checks whether your letter of reference is real and whether you really worked at the position that you listed in your application?
2)How do they verify all the information in your application?
3) I forgot to mention something in my initial application. What do they do with your initial aplication that you send to Sydney? Do they send the initial application to the chosen embassy? What if there is a difference between the initial and full applications?

Thanks
