Hi,
Filling out the Family Sponsorship. Wife is Canadian living in US.

In Supporting Documents for Sponsor for Canadian living outside of Canada, it asks for proof that you will live in Canada with your spouse once they become a permanent resident. What counts as proof for that? (We're anticipating this being a year away and would need to find a home and employment in Canada.)

Yes

Yes, some explanation for ties or planning to stay in Canada after becoming PR - previous residence history in Canada or showing any family ties or property ownership could work as well.

Follow up question: Moving is dependent on work (finishing contracts here, finding jobs there) and housing. Once I get the PR, is there a time limit on how quickly we move? Will it expire? Will there be a penalty if we don't move right away?

Hi, I have filled my spousal pr application to sponsor my wife and have some question if anyone can kindly help.
IMM5532 form Relationship information:
1. In this form what should I enter in To date for my current occupation? should I leave it blank?
2. Similarly what should I enter in To date for my address history? Should I leave it blank?

IMM 5669:
Question on Education:
How to split Primary and high school years. In southern Indian state boards we have 12 years of schooling from kindergarten and 1st grade to 10th grade. Then 2 years of Higher Secondary education also known as 11th and 12th standard. So should I enter the number of years under Primary/elementary as 12 and then 2 years under High school/secondary?

IMM5562:
Is this form not mandatory? Should the sponsor(myself) also add my travel history under Section B spouse's travel history.

Thank you so much!

IMM 5532:
1. I put the current month (the month on which I submitted the application).
2. Same as above

IMM 5669:
Usually KG is ignored. Grades 1-8 is considered primary education. Grades 9-12 is considered secondary.

IMM5562:
It is mandatory for the principal applicant and any dependent applicant above 18 years of age. Also, don't include your history because you are already in their system as you already have your PR (or citizenship).

You can provide initial proof of looking for employment and housing but you will often be asked to provide more concrete proof right before a final decision is made. Proof could be giving notice at your US job, giving notice at your rental or putting your home up for sale, proof of job in Canada or job interviews, proof of looking for or securing housing in Canada, fights being booked, etc. If you applied for PR through sponsorship while living abroad most should have some concrete plans if relocation with a little flexibility. Many people used to apply sponsorship and did a soft landing but never settled in Canada which is why proof of resettlements plan is now required.
