Hello all, i would like to share my case..
Today, i got a phone call from Cic. Actually she phoned me many times since last thurday, but I didn’t answer cause there was no caller id or voice mail. But When i answered the phone today, she said she is doing my citizenship application but my social insurance and q14.b ‘s check mark is not done. So i can give my social insurance number to her over the phone or i can mail ( same address on the form But just add her name and team number )to her. At that time, i was not able to check my application form,also i was not sure it is scam or not. So i told her, i will mail to you as soon as possible and i did not give her any information. She said ‘ then i will set aside your application on my desk.. and hung up the phone....

After hung up the phone, i called cic (General information call number) to confirm her name but the agent said she is not able to do that but if i miss my social insurance number on my citizenship application form , there is a possibility that the officer might call me.

And it turned out that i did not write my social insurance number(q12) and did not do check mark for q14.b .
But i never heard the cic officer makes phone calls regarding some mistakes on application forms
And i am going to mail my application again tomorrow....

Yes they can call you for this reason i have seen that before and if you reply right away your file may move to in process...to save your time they can do it...good luck

You know. They don’t call.

I was trying to be nice and not call you fraudster.
You were sharing info and you did not know if they do that and suddenly you are sure that they do call and you are urging people by telling them that your file will be processed faster.

It is clear in the instructions that the file will be returned if you don’t put the SIN on the form.

Go phish somewhere else.

You were sharing info and you did not know if they do that and suddenly you are sure that they do call and you are urging people by telling them that your file will be processed faster.

This is actually not true, IRCC/CIC MAY call. I agree that information should not be given over the phone, so I would mail it in ASAP, especially if you did miss the information they are requesting, know that IRCC/CIC has your application and the address they give you is verifiably an IRCC address.

Do it asap!

With all due respect, CIC will never call you. They will return your application so people, if you get a phone call, opt to use the mail and add an explanation letter. DO NOT GIVE YOUR INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.

With all due respect, I do not think CIC will call anybody in the first step otherwise they will not return any application. They will just call the applicants and inform them that their applications are missing some information.

With regards to your SIN, I do not think any government agency will call and ask for your SIN number over the phone. NEVER! even CRA. You provide your SIN when you are calling CRA.

With regards to 14b, here is what in the guide (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0002-application-canadian-citizenship-under-subsection-5-1-adults-18-years-older.html)
which means that you can say either yes or no. so I do not think they will call you and ask you to change your answer.

Check Yes to authorize the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to provide your history of travel to IRCC. By selecting Yes, you are also authorizing IRCC to collect the history of your travel from the CBSA and to use the information provided by the CBSA in order to determine your citizenship eligibility.

• If you choose No, you may be asked to provide additional documents later in the process which will delay the processing of your application. Don’t contact the CBSA to request your “history of entries.”

I agree with you when you say use the email. It won't hurt if you send them the information again and that's why I mentioned in my reply to include an explanation letter.
When something like this is posted on the form and all of us know who eager we are to get our application going as soon as possible, I am afrid that some people will provide such info on the phone and they will be doing that because they read it on such trusted form.

I still stand by my opinion that CIC will never call in the first step and that's why they mail you in the later stages although they have your email address.
