Is getting a DM right after the test not the usual scenario?
Do others still have to wait to get a DM status? If so, will they send another notification for that?
:)Some people get DM right after test/interview, others don't. There's really no "usual scenario", you can check the spreadsheets and see more or less the different timelines.
This could be due to various reasons: applicant's backgrounds are still being checked (because of IRCC OR because of an external partner, which could be a foreign country's authority etc), there are still concerns regarding presence or something else (CO wants to see some more information for some reason), or even the CO didn't update the details in the system and it takes them a while to do so.
There is no cause for alarm, during the interview the CO will (or can, if you ask them) tell you where your application is at!

Out of curiosity I called CIC today and found that they don't have information on my Finger Prints, that I completed them... on file yet and CIC Agent suggested to send a copy of receipt to Vancouver office marking it as FYI.

Is this normal for Citizenship applicant from Vancouver/Surrey BC area? Looking at Vancouver Area applications timeline in various forums they are usually taking much longer time overall... Is Vancouver office a bottleneck for us ?

Will there be more security checks after DM or just waiting for oath slot/date to open up?

Just wanna know if officer is still looking into file or file is just waiting for the officer to push ?

When did you send your FPs? It does take a while for them to get it, I think they say 3 weeks?

Either way, I sent my FP receipt directly to IRCC on Expo, with a cover letter explaining that this was what the call centre agent told me to do (seems similar to you), a couple of weeks after I had done my FPs at Commissionaires BC. If they did not receive the info from RCMP, then with the receipt they can track it down (or so I understand).

I don't think Vancouver is much slower or faster than any other office... if you look through the forum, people from everywhere, daily, are saying things like "OH MAN Mississauga is so slow!" or "yeah Montreal is famous for being super behind" etc. It really does depend on each application, there are so many variables, especially considering this is all done by human officers. I sent my application in June, in September they requested FPs, I did them the day after I received the request, then in December I received my test invite, and did my test on the 16th of January- on the 17th I had DM on ECAS. I am trying to illustrate that some applications will be SUPER SHORT in processing times, and others just short, and others medium, others longer, others SUPER long. It is the nature of bureaucracy, unfortunately!

In theory, NO, there will be no more security checks. Once you get DM, you are waiting for an oath date.
They probably keep checking GCMS and things like that to ensure nothing changed, and if you contact them declaring any information you submitted has changed, then they will take action etc. But overall, once you get DM, you are just waiting for oath, as I understand it :)

Hello to all:

Just want to share my status here.

Send application: June 15, 2018
Received by CIC: June 25, 2018
AOR: August 24, 2018
In Process: August 31, 2018

My question is until now we didn't receive any invite to take test. We are 6 applicant in one envelope. Why until now we didn't receive test invite.

Second question. Our PR will expire on May 2019, should we renew our PR Card can we wait for the Citizenship.

Can I call the CIC to inquire why taking so long (I believe Scarborough CIC) is the one who handling our application.

Renewing PR is another expense and we are 6 member of my family to renew if ever.

KundKi advise best thing to do.

Thank you

I have added your information to the sheet, can you please share your Physical presence days?

I understand waiting is frustrating, but your timeline seems normal. Many people from April and even March have not received their test invites. The total processing time they took to finish most complete applications is 12 months, so you are well within average processing time. You can give IRCC call centre a call and ask, but the agent can't really tell you much, especially if it has not been 12 months since you applied.

As for renewing the PR CARD, your permanent residence does not "expire", what does expire is your PR card. Even if your PR card is not valid, you are still a PR of Canada. Renewing the card is up to you and whether you think you will want to leave Canada and return, as once it is expired you will not be able to use it to fly into Canada. If you are sure you will not leave and need to return before you get your citizenship, then you don't have to renew the card. Having said that, the process is unpredictable and there is really no telling how long it will take, so this is a personal choice you have to make :) I hope this helps!
