Hi,

I'm the one who got hit by C-24 and got delayed until June 1st, so, creating this thread to pro-actively involve in our citizenship applications, hopefully, C6 will not kicks in until later July or Aug so (pre-C6) June applicants will get the perks of processing time within 6 months.

Please share your timelines, ideas, or any issues while filling up your applications or during the application period.

Regards,
Nadeem

Thank you for creating this thread, I will apply on mid of June. Even if C-6 become a rule now, it won't be effective immediately. I hope our applications will be processed quickly.

Good luck for all

I am also a June applicant, who got kicked in the face by Bill C-24. Missed sending in application then in 2015 by just a week and 1day. my question is:

Should we apply under the current rule, including the most disturbing ( intent to reside), should the law change, does it mean that the new law would be what is binding our citizenship even though we applied under a different law?

any answer is appreciated.

thanks
Joe

I think you make an oath right? If so how can the new law repeal an oath? I think intend to reside is only after applying for citizenship but before become the real citizen. After you become citizen you are freely to leave to any countries and you dont need to ever step foot again in Canada, you may not be able to obtain welfare from Canada to live in another country

If you are eligible now then apply now under current rules. Once the law changes and the intent to reside clause is removed from the rules/law it applies to everyone...including the ones that have already received citizenship or are in process. It will be like this rule never existed.

I think it is OK. Personally I prefer to be on the safe side and have some buffer but generally there is no need to wait
