The last few times we called CIC we were told that our security was in progress and that it was the only outstanding thing. Well, we always thought it was an excuse.

So we wrote to Canadian Security Intelligence Service (which deals with immigration screening) to find out what's going with our security screening. We received a reply today. And what? They have NOT received a request yet to do our security screening.

Immediately, we called CIC to get an update on our file. And were told "Security is still in progress. But because external agencies are responsible for that check, we have no control over timings." So we said it was curious, since CSIS hasn't actually received a request from CIC yet to start our screening. First, there was a very long pause, and then the agent was trying to back paddle saying that it might be with RCMP or that the request might be sent soon. And yet again, we got nowhere with the agent. And we don't really trust that our file will be finalised by the end of October.

Haha, dead on. We knew that was an excuse or lie more exactly. It's all up to CIC to take action or not and once they do, it will probably take CSIS no more than a couple minutes to finish checking for most applicants. These days everything is electronic and if there's no issue with the record in their computer then there's nothing more to check (and they can't do anything more), common sense. I am thinking eligibility assessment 2 might usually happen before security check and once EA2 gets done, it takes a matter of days to finish the rest. That's why we got stuck. As we say all the time, our files haven't been touched by VO.

Just a question: Did you get feedback from CSIS by mail? How long did the process take?

We faxed the request on 14 September. The reply was mailed to us on 25 September, and we received it in post today (we're based in Europe). I think the official line is that it can take them up to 8 weeks to reply, but it took about 2.

If only CIC was as efficient!

I was just told by CIC and MP that I have contacted - that the 14 month timeframe is based on when my file was transferred to Ottowa .... Which has extended my timeline to end of October (when my file was submitted 20 jun / and AOR was 5th Aug 2014)
My file was transferred to Ottowa on 29 August 2014 - therefore the 14 months is not yet reached.

Till now CIC has invited more the 22K applicant through EE. so you can understand where they are busy. till last year they were unable to handle 8k applications now they are dealing with 22K (may be not every one applied or came to canada). Any body know what the EE target is?
God knows when our number will come.

Cool thanks. That was kind of fast. Obviously CSIS is not busy with security checks at all, lol.

If you have submitted the pcc in given time frame. Then you shouldn't be worried.

If u have not left Canada since u got your pcc then you don't need to worry about it.. U cannot commit a crime in another country if u hvnt left Canada :p

Seems like CIC resume the process from July (back log) ignoring the June applicants again. This is dammmmm frustrating and I really can't do anything about it. Damm....Damm...

About 2 months ago, last time I talked to CIC they told me it was going to be ready by end of September. On Monday I called and they said it was fine, still in review, in queue and that I will have a response by end of October. I lost my hope, I know it will come, but don't know when, and being in implicit status and the huge backlog also on the extension of WP, it just feels sooo nerve-racking and frustrating..

Just logged into ECAS ... I now have 5 lines showing
The addition of we sent you notification of receipt of your application / and a line saying when they sent the instructions for the medical.

The MP I approached contacted CIC on my behalf yesterday ... And was told it was all fine, near the end - still doing background/security (usual blanket message) so by sure of this is because someone physically touched my file to look - or just co-incidence?
