Today, my MP replies me. This is the second time she follows up for me. The first time was in the late of July.

MP: " It's delayed. No deadline for finalization of your application. Contact me after 3 months. "

Me: " Do you know any reason?"

MP: " Your application looks fine. It's because high volumn of applicants."

Me: " Because CIC is only working on Express Entry?"

MP: " Highly possible. I am sorry and I understand your situation. However there is nothing we can do."
Too bad.
Do you know, these MP will change after October election ?

What's the point of asking you to contact after 3 months, if there is nothing they can do. Just echoing call center's words if that sounds familiar.

I don't think the election will bring any changes very soon. It will change some people at the top, but will take a fair amount of time to fix the system, usually years, if that's ever going to happen. Still, we do want to see the guys in the office to step out since that's what they deserve.

My application was submitted to CIC on 23rd June 2014 and completed 15 months as of yesterday.
I just called CIC and asked about the status. The Agent says that my application was received by Ottawa office on 26th Aug 2014 (after two motnhs from the date it was received by Sydney office) and the 14 months of processing time should be counted from that particular date. So he asked me to wait will 26th Oct 2015.

The third line in my ECAS says "We started processing your application on August 13, 2014"
If Ottawa office received my application on 26th Aug 2014, which office started processing it on Aug-13. No answer from Agent.
Really ridiculous!!!
Anyhow, my current open workpermit is expiring on 4th Dec 2014. I have no clue whether I have to apply for work permit extention now or I can trust CIC that can wait till 26th Oct???

It doesn't matter - processing time counts from the date they have received your application. It says so on the website. Some agents either don't know this or want you to just go away and stop bothering them - I've seen that story a couple of times and even heard it myself once (and called bullshit - no answer from the agent).

better apply for BOWP now to avoid unwanted circumstances where employer may not like you being in implied state. you may not like to be out of OHIP (if you are in ontario) coverage. since the WP processing time seems 120 day so you can apply now so you get it soon after your current WP expire.

Hi Could you please reply what you did and if u received a reply from CIC.

I also received medical request for my wife but she had a medical done in April 2015 for her work permit application.
I mailed CIC with the medical completion form and asked them to confirm if this will be accepted.

Hello all, I got the medical request for my wife from CIC last night. But she already did her medicals upfront and submitted to CIC through email. Also used the same medical report for work permit as well. Do I have to do the medicals test as per the request from CIC or inform CIC that we already did medicals and resend the the documents. Did anyone went through same situation. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've recently learned you can get OHIP coverage while on implied status - it takes some more time (you have to appeal the refusal), but it can be done. I'll post a full guide once I finish the process.

Hi all,

Seeing that the processing of our applications is taking longer than anticipated, I was going over the application guide (I printed it out a while ago, when I first started gathering documents for my application, about 1.5 years ago, so I do not know if the guide is still available online) to make sure nothing expires in my application. We all know that our language test results are valid for 2 years and medicals are good for a year. What I was more interested in and looking for specifically was the requirement regarding the validity of work experience. What I found is this:

"All applicants must have:
- acquired at least 12 months of full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in occupations that fall under Skill Type 0, or Skill Type A or B of the National Occupational Classificaion (NOC);
- obtained the required work experience within the 36 months preceding the date their application is received."

My interpretation of this is that, once gained, our work experience stays with us. That is to stay that so long as we have the above-mentioned one year of work experience when we first filed our applications -- no matter how long ago it was, for most of us it is about 1.5 years and counting -- that is all that matters. So it's not like we need to keep it current (in case anyone decides to go back to school or move abroad for work). Many people, as I see on this forum, even leave the country and move back home.

Any thoughts on this?

Right, do need to worry about this. This is one of the few things CIC made clear and kept consistent, which is the core of CEC as you underlined in bold.
