My local MP office informed me that IRCC is treating our application as non-routine.
I thought non routine can mean that you lives in other countries and not just one. That is my husband's case Algerian living in Qatar for work so they have to run background check in both countries and that is non-routine.

My application tracker currently says
Biometrics: Completed
Medical Exam: Completed
PA Eligibility: Completed on Dec 20, 2025 (have not received PA Eligibility letter yet, not sure if that's normal)
Background Verification: In Progress

Anyone else have a similar timeline? I guess my background check is taking a little longer than other applicants.
Got a pre-arrival reminder letter today. No update in tracker since Dec 22, 2025.

Anyone in a similar timeline so far?

Trying to stay positive

Hi All - just wondering if anyone else is taking a while getting through. We are almost at the 8 month mark. I know my case will take a little longer as my husband is from Algeria and working in Qatar so that is an extra background check. Checked the tracker and background is showing not applicable and eligibility is we are reviewing. Those 2 statuses have not changed since AOR lol I am trying to stay positive but hard when it looks like it is going nowhere. I am sure we are just waiting in line like most people. :)

I understand how you feel. After thinking about it, the time it takes for background check is probably just waiting for the country's government to process IRCC's request for documentation. So, it really must vary by country and by circumstance greatly and the time it takes has no bearing on your application's approval.

It's just a thought that might help you relieve the anxiety or stress of not knowing. Now it's just about patience, which you can reframe as just finding a way to pass the time.

I understand I’m very close to my PR FD. However, we have booked flight on April 15, 2026 since AOR date assuming the timelines at that period of time.
I want to ask as FD can be any moment from now, if I apply for TRV and my receive my PR FD before flying can I still use my TRV to travel without stamping PR from home country and apply for virtual landing once inside the Canada?

Your thoughts are appreciated! Thank you.
