Hi Samira,

What is your AOR date? is it BCPNP?
AOR July 29th, 2025. It's ONPNP. I received two ADRs, the last one being the CV, and after that, my tracker had the update "Background changed to in progress, when it was already in progress". It's been over a month and a half since the last update.

Have you worked in government or the military? It sounds like a comprehensive background check. You might consider ordering GCMS notes to get more details.

I'm in the same kind of situation as you. Got two ADRs and then the "Background changed to in progress" update after the second ADR. This update as far as I can tell is a tell that application is sent for comprehensive security check, which I confirmed recently when I got my GCMS notes.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say we are from the same region, which might be one of the triggers for a comprehensive security check. Military service (likely for your spouse) or any government jobs could also trigger it.
Try and take your mind off the application for now. You can request GCMS notes while you wait, but wait is all we can do right now.

I haven't worked in government or the military. I am an inland applicant and have been in Canada for 4 years. I am still under the 6-month processing period, so I was planning to wait till January to order the GCMS notes. But how can you tell that it's a comprehensive background check?

How long have you been waiting? Are you from the Middle East? I don't have any military or government background, and I am not married, so maybe it's just the region that prompted the security check. It's very frustrating.

my recent observation is on the IRCC timeline portal which they updated this month on 10th December. Till 8th Dec it was showing 3 month remaining for all the July AOR. but after update on 10th Dec it is now showing 4 month remaining for July AOR. It is quite frustrating to see such random updates by IRCC.

I have no Gov or Military background I never received any ADR.

My AOR is July 21. I got the tracker update on October 3 which is also the date it was sent to CBSA. So 2.5 months so far?
Yes I'm also from the middle east. For me in was also because of my military service. Sometimes it might even be random.
I Understand that it is frustrating and I was feeling the same way. But there is not much we can do, which is why I suggest you try and take your mind off of it for now. Don't check the tracker or your GCKey account so often and let it run its course. It may take a while but it's not indefinite.
