Same question. Received email Nov. 20 for fingerprints. and I think not everyone getting ask for it !
Not everyone gets asked for FP. I once asked about this to a friend who works with immigration stuff and what she told is that there may be several reasons for them to ask, but most commonly it's because the fingerprint they have on file is of low quality: when we landed in Canada, we had our fingerprints taken and sometimes they were bad quality and the agent didn't notice or care so they ask you to provide them again.

And some times it is for identity verification reasons: you happen to share a name or something else with someone else so they want to make sure you are you.

Updated. And since we're at it, quick question: how long did the whole thing (test+interview) take? I mean, I see that your test was scheduled for 1:30pm, at what time did you leave the office?
