My Background Check status changed to “We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.”

Does anyone know if this is any kind of progress? And if it is, how long normally does it take until the next step?

It’s the last stage of the process and the longest. Can take up to 4-6 months.

I think we're all pretty much at the same stage (background check). Some have needed to send extra RCMP fingerprints but other than that, it's been silent for a few months now.

If anyone is planning on traveling abroad, here has been my experience:

I’ve went to the US twice in less than two months for business trips (around 15 days each), and on each time when I returned, the Canadian customs officers asked for my passport with the eTA + OWP, the purpose of my trip, where I work and what kind of Work Permit I had. Both times I told them I got the OWP after applying for PR. I did not say it was from the Family Application (didn’t see the need to) and they’ve release me in less than 30 seconds.

At least for business trips, going abroad seems to be okay.

At least there are some ppl having almost the same timeline as me and did not get RCMP requested. I feel so releaved.
And for out of country trips, I still do not know about their restrictions.. but seems like short trips are fine, just they do not 100% guarantee you can come back without issue.

Should I be worried?

I am sponsoring my husband and so far our timeline is:

App sent: June 18,2018
Was received: June 19,2018
They started processing as of July 27,2018
He got his OWP: Oct 2018.

Ever since then we havent heard or seen anything else, and I have really been doing my best to forget about it however reading all your posts have started to make me worried. We havent heard for a medical and I wonder if there is anything wrong.

Anyone else in a similar timeline/situation?

Have you checked for your application status on ECAS instead of just logging in with your GCIC accounts? Sometimes they have different messages there. Otherwise, I would call CIC first thing in the morning just in case.

Your application was received in June, so you are a June applicant. It seems you are an inland applicant. Most inland June applicants have not received a medical request. However, they have started seeing movement on eCAS. This forum is better suited for you: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/june-2018-inland-application.564246/page-59
