Huh, I just noticed mine says the same thing as well. Used to just say "Background check - Not started" now says "A background check is needed - Not started"

Hong Kong office started processing: Sep 12, 2016
Document Request from Hong Kong Consulate office: Sep 22, 2016

The whole process has happened smoother and faster than i expected! i hope this is a good sign!

I also got document request on September 20 . July 15 applicant here.

But isn't that just standard AOR2 email?

Why do you think its smoother and faster?

Received email from HK office asking for police certificate from Hk on Sept 20

Update-- Medical: Passed (Finally! and after sending an email to check if they have received my medical results. They answered my email today after 2 days and confirmed that.), Background check: In progress
What's next step? Document req.? Probably police certificate?! (Mine has already got expired!)

My doctor had sent out my medical exam to CIC on June 30.

Online process means your exam will be sent to CIC electronically and you don't need to send them manually or so.

Hello,
I am new to this forum. My application was received by CIC on July 26th. In the status I can only see that my husband who is canadian and my sponsor has the 'decision made' status. Under PR status(which is me in this case), it just shows "In Process".
When I click on the status, i see "medical reports received" and for the sponsor "We have started processing your application on Aug 16th".
I see much detailed status shared in this forum.
I have 2 questions-

1) How and where can I check the detailed status?

2) Anyone has any idea of the timelines. I live in USA.

Hi all,

I was looking at MyCIC info and I noticed it has a line:

Background check is needed - Not Started

It used to say not needed. Anyone else notice this?

I'm fairly certain that after they transfer your file, it will say not needed, but when they open your file and start working on it, it changes to not started.
