Hi There,

I have a question about the NOC Main duties. My job title is listed in NOC 0111 - administrator, pension plan and when I read on the main duties of these job lists. I notice that the description of main duties are more towards director, manager, controller in financial field. I am a little bit confused and if I use this code 0111 with the job title, but unmatch main duties. Would this be alright?

Thank you in advance and Cheers :)

No, it wouldn't. The job duties are the most important. Find another NOC code that better suits your actual duties. The title doesn't matter so much.

No - the main title of occupations under 0111 is "Financial Managers." So you have to be in a managerial capacity to use that code.

Unfortunately, if you are not at the manager level, this is your most likely NOC (1432), which is not classified as "skllled."

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileDescription.aspx?val=1&val1=1432&val27=%22pension+plan%22&val28=0&val29=0&val30=1&val31=1&val32=1&val33=2&val34=1&val35=1&val36=1&val37=1&val38=0&val39=0&val40=Main+Duties

I don't want to get your hopes up, but some time in 2012 a new set of NOC codes will be released. I doubt there will be any major changes in how skilled vs unskilled occupations are defined, but you should keep an eye out anyway...

Is there any form where the applicant needs to state that what NOC category they are applying under or does CIC just figure it out from the job description given by the employer on the required reference letter? Thanks.
