Hi all

I am currently living in Winnipeg, and am five months in to the wait for my common law PR visa. I have just finished my masters, and am hoping to gain some (unpaid) work experience in the field. I understand that I am able to job shadow, but not work - is this the case? I cannot seem to find the page on the immigration site regarding what I can and cant do.

Cheers

You definitely can't work - even if it's unpaid. If your unpaid work is something that someone might be paid to do - then it's no different than working - and doing so without a work permit means you're working illegally. I think job shadowing is borderline. You would have to be observing only and doing no actual work. Check out the following info that provides some guidance.
