I'm a non resident Canadian citizen living abroad. My job doesn't go well and I quit, last day in 2 weeks. I plan to submit Family Class Sponsorship for my common law partner in March. I have enough savings to live off for a few years so if I'm free to decide, I will take a break from work until the application is approved and move back to Canada and start new.

However, I'm not sure if having a job (at the time of application and during the whole application process) will make my case stronger and expedite the application process somehow? If it is, I can work again no problem. Please help shed some light.

Since you have plenty of funds, the only way the job will help you is in proving you will return to Canada. Since you aren't planning to job search in Canada, you have to show proof in other ways that you two will be returning to Canada to reside. Explain what your living situation will be, show examples of rental searches etc.

Sorry, let me clarify.

I am currently living abroad and plan to apply for sponsoring my partner from abroad (Family class). My desire is not to work during this time when I'm waiting for my partner's PR application to be approved (currently wait is about 12 months). I do plan to work in Canada after I return but I will only return when my partner's PR is approved.

So, my question was: will me getting a job here (abroad) help in any way to expediate the PR application approval process even when I have enough to live off of for a few years without income? For some reason, people told me I must have a job (at and during the time of application being processed)to qualify for being a sponsor. Please advice. Thank you!

No, having a job will not expedite your app in any way.
