Hi everybody,

I received a job offer from an employer in Saskatchewan for a skilled position and they want me to start immediately. They said I can start right away but I think I need to have a LMIA and work permit right? I'm really confused since my new employer keeps insisting that I don't need a LMIA and a work permit. Right now I'm under a work permit in a low skilled position. I hope you can enlighten me with this. Thank you in advance.

Yes - your new employer must obtain an approved LMIA. You must then obtain a new work permit. Once your new work permit is approved, you can start working for your new employer. Doing anything else will be working illegally in Canada.
