Apparently some super visa claimants on another thread said that it can anywhere up to 1.5 years just for background check of a military personnel. We will have to wait to see our timelines.

Hi I am applying for visitor visa for my sister and her family to visit me in Canada. Do we have to upload their older passports as well or only new passport is required. Their new passports are less than 2 yrs old and they have travel visa and stampings in older passport. Thanks in advance!

Most likely Yes.
Click on “i” symbol in document upload section - it has all detailed info about what they usually expect in every document.
Depending upon your answers, information needs to be uploaded.
