Hi friends,

Has anyone of you applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit?

Link 1) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html
Link 2) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/provincial-nominees/after-apply-next-steps.html

Link 1 says that the applicant must be approved in principle (AIP) for permanent residence - applicant will need a letter from IRCC stating that you meet the permanent residence eligibility requirements whereas Link 2 says that the applicant will need the letter called “Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) – Application for permanent residence” to apply for a bridging open work permit.

After receiving an AOR, can we apply for a bridging open work permit? or do we have to wait for AIP?
Can any of you please let me know which of the above two web pages' information is correct?

AOR is considered to be acknowledgement in principal for PR and it has to be attached to application for a bridging open work permit application. Hope it helps.

Thank you for the positive response. Would it be possible for you to share the IRCC webpage link for reference where it mentions AIP and AOR?

I will have to search for it as I read it somewhere but could not reconcile it immediately but I am pretty sure of the fact that AOR is the AIP as the file has passed the initial completeness check by an officer.

@soccer_007 Did you try searching for your application using name and uci. You have a temporary file number. Does your file reflect in the system by using the search option ?

No temp file does not mean anything. However you can call and select a few options to hear an auto message where it says
Your application was received on ____ We are pleased to confirm We received you application. We will update the status of your application when the process starts

It gives you hope that your process is not lost.

Ok thanks! I read a few posts where some people have been able to search for their applications on their gckey account using their name and uci after they got their temp file number. Though they were not able to link the application.
