I am a Jan 2020 applicant from Mississauga and I just noticed that my oath ceremony has been scheduled for Sept 28th. It changed today morning. I have a work related travel to the US that I cannot reschedule, on the same day. I will be returning to Canada in the first week of October by air & I read somewhere that we have to cut our PR cards during the ceremony. I am worried about how I would be able to return if I take the oath and loose my PR card.

Is it possible to request IRCC to reschedule my oath ceremony? Has anyone done this before? If you have, how soon does IRCC reschedule?

Like everyone else in this group, the wait has been really long and I really want to get the oath done too.

I would NOT reschedule the Oath under any circumstance… rescheduling can push your Oath back for another 3-5 months of waiting… if you become citizen and then travel, you will need to apply for a urgent passport from the USA.

Just received invitation for exam. My dates are Sept 17 - Oct 7. Everything (exept oath) in process still. It's moving forward slowly.

Hello Admin,

My citizenship test was successfully validated yesterday (20/20). Could you please update.
On another note, my physical presence, language skills, and prohibition are still in progress. Any insights on those.

Thanks!

This is a tricky slope. I was pretty much in the same boat as you and currently i am in Canada after completing my oath last week.

Please bear in mind that re scheduling your Oath during these times may push it back by 3- 6 months and who knows even more.

Also the IRCC official presiding during the Oath mentioned that the Citizenship certificate would take 2 to 4 weeks to be issued and passport can take another 20-30 days. Emergency passports can be obtained in two days but that depends on your case criticality an reason. You are right about the PR cards being shredded during the ceremony . So if you are planning to take the oath make sure you need to spend few days in Canada until you receive all these documents because otherwise you will be unable to travel back to Canada.

Hello All,

I have a question about voting. I completed my oath on September 1st but haven't received the certificate yet. I was wondering if I don't receive it by 20th would I still be able to vote? Or I need some kind of proof?
Regards
Hey Salar123, Did you get your citizenship certificate?

Can you fly to the nearest boarder and drive across? You don't need PR card when driving private vehicle.
