AOR is always by email, and approval can be either email or snail mail.

The date - 4th of January - is the date that your application was received in Mississauga, but they send you an acknowledgement of receipt today - they just confirm that you got your "place in the queue" system from the 4th of January... which is the important part because as long as it doesn't pass the date on the CIC website (the updated part every wednesday) you can not call them to ask about it. However, in your case it probably won't be necessary because most likely you'll get the approval before they get to January on their official website.

Sponsor approval I'm assuming you mean. Lord knows I wish it was the whole thing :P

Thanks so much.

I imagine it's a relief especially after the whole first try episode in May, hopefully you'll get the sponsorship approval really soon and off to the second stage! :-)

Holy crap!

Yayyy!! We received AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) today!! Surprising since they say they are still working on November cases. *does a dance*

So AOR for me on spreadsheet :)

You're updated. I put today's date since you got it today.

(Doesn't that sound obtuse :P)

Amikety....

Mine was approved until Feb 2014 :D

How many months did you get ?

13.5 months. :D I asked for 14 for time to process my PR and they actually gave it to me. I guess my reasoning made sense. To someone. (Finally!)

I'm sure you will hear soon. My VR came back faster than posted times. (Mine has always been faster for some reason.) So don't despair.

Congratulation... ;)
I got some problems in my application which were not my fault...I had sent it again last week and still transit in Canada Post :'(
I am not lucky like you ???

How long did it take you to get your visa extended i.e. the turnaround time from the time you applied?I applied end of Oct but haven't heard anything yet

I didn't apply for a visa. I applied for a Visitor's Record. Same basic idea. (I'm visa exempt.)

I applied Oct 15th.

with the visitor visa then what do I have to do?

my iec expires on march 14th and I want to stay in canada until my visa processes. do I apply to change my status as a visitor visa as I'm from the uk then? or do I apply for a visitor record? I don't quite get this stage?

It depends on what passport you hold. If your country is on this list, you need a visa: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/visit/visas.asp

If it's not on that list, you're visa exempt and get a Visitor's Record. It's a little confusing and no one bothered to explain it to me at first either. If you hold a UK passport, you're visa exempt to visit. (Only visit!) Yeah, like I said, a little confusing!

You need to ask to extend your stay: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

If you ask for Worker to Visitor, the correct application will automatically arrive and if you're approved, a Visitor's Record will be mail to you. In the section where it asks why you want to remain in Canada, I would tell them you're doing a PR application and ask for the amount of time to cover the application. I also offered proof if they needed in since my application wasn't mailed yet, such as proof of medicals.

OK. Thanks. Guess I will try to call CIC tomorrow even though I do not have a client no. having mailed my application end of Oct. Hopefully I will hear soon.

If you applied online, they are working on applications from Oct 14th (day before I applied - I did mention I always get mine faster).

If you applied by paper, it's even longer to wait.

Until your date passes, there is no point in calling CIC.

Thanks for the website info. However, I might have misled you. What I really meant is extension to stay as my visa is still very valid and wont' expire anytime soon

So we're starting a new year and need a thread for this month. Sent my package back off today again (former May applicant, see explanation here: CLICK :o Case processing center Ottawa, American under common law outland application. Been in Canada 1 year and 7 months thanks to an extension. (minus 3 weeks)

If anyone wants to start and manage a spreadsheet for Jan applicants I will add it to this original post, I'm not too skilled in creating them/maintaining them so any volunteer would be peachy.

Good luck to all!!! Here's to a fast processing year!
