Hello,

I need some information regarding experience. It’s about my friend who has got ITA. But during filing he added 3 years experience whereas he been in vacation for 2 months but vacation was fullly paid. The vacation was spent outside Canada. Now confusion is if we include vacation period as experience then he is legit saying 3 years experience based on what he got iTA but if outside canada vacation is not considered as work experience then he must not accept ITA due to ineligibility. May anyone assist us in this scenario. Thank you.

Paid vacation usually does count as part of continuous work experience, as long as your friend was still officially employed (on payroll, not terminated) during those 2 months. IRCC generally looks at whether the employment was ongoing, not the physical location.

So if it was approved, paid leave and the job remained active, the 3 years should still be valid. To be safe, just make sure the reference letter and documents clearly show continuous employment and paid status during that period.
