Issue with Stage 2

Hey everyone. My wife was recently just approved to be my sponsor for our application, and now we're moving on to stage 2. For this, it is required I get FBI Clearance. Now, I've already sent in my application for FBI Clearance, but the processing times for this can be 14 - 16 weeks. If this is true, then I will not have enough time to send it to Immigrations based on their deadline.

I plan to write a letter up, and provide proof of purchase for the FBI Clearance Application, and mail it to Immigrations in the hopes to get an extension on the deadline. Is this the proper course of action, or is there a more appropriate way of doing so? Any information would be appreciated!

As long as you provide proof that the request was made (like a copy of the receipt when you mailed it, showing the FBI address), you should be able to get an extension.

They also send you a letter requesting it ( most are now given 90 days) since CIC is aware of the FBI delays.
Have you already received that letter?

It was sent to me via email last week or so, gave me a few things I needed to update, which are pretty much already completed. Thank you for that info though. I've got everything I need, so I'll mail it as soon as I can!

-EDIT- actually I meant to ask. Should I include my UCI number so they can identify me easier? Or will my name be enough?

Yes. Include your UCI number and application/file number as well.

If you have also received AIP, you can also fax it to them (not the FBI IHSR, obviously, just the proof of mailing). The fax number should have been on the 3rd sheet in your AIP PDF.
