i have a roommate who came in canada for 1 year diploma program, finished his program, got OCWP and SIN number, started working for few months to save money, now he is planning to study 1 more year (different program) again by requesting for another study permit, for him to get 3 year PGWP.

problem for him is getting study permit extended.....and once the new rules set in..... study permit becomes invalid after 3 months of completion of education.

ok here is what i understand from ur question
ur friend came here for a 1 year diploma course he applied for OCWP while studying and then he completed his diploma and has his study permit still valid in which time he plans to work on his OCWP and then apply again for a second course right? ok so he must be nearing the end of his study permit ..has he renewed study permit ? OCWP is not independent of study permit. for OCWP to be valid u have to be a full time student.

so he has to extend his study permit for that he will need admission to the new college /course...I am not sure but chance of extension are slim if his start date is far away. lot of loop holes in this plan not sure it will work

You dont need an EVN to get a study permit. There are completely different.

Are you sure you dont mean pgwp?

An EVN is useless in his current situation so what you're saying makes no sense.

then why does he need an EVN? he should already have an EVN when he applied for OCWP.
