Hi,

My Working Holiday Visa is expiring in 20 days. I was accepted in the Federal Skilled Worker Express Entry pool, I'm waiting for the next draw to get my Invitation to Apply ITA. I want to remain in Canada and get my Permanent Residency.
In order to remain in Canada, I'm planning to switch my status from worker to visitor. I will apply on paper since it takes 111 days to process a paper application, so this would give me about 3 months on implied status. During that time I will apply for universities to study here (this would be my plan B in case the Express Entry rejects me).

What are the odds of my visitor extension getting rejected if I say I want to do tourism for 6 months? I can prove enough money to support myself. Any other better strategies?

Thanks!

Your change of status to visitor will most likely be accepted. I assume you know that you will have to stop working as soon as your working holiday visa expires. You will have implied status while you wait for the visitor application to be processed - however this implied status will only allow you to remain in Canada as a visitor, not work here.

If you plan to attend university, make sure you don't start any classes until you have a study permit in hand.

Good luck.
