I applied the temporary resident visa yesterday while my current study permit has already expired and my new study permit is still processing. However, when I searched online I found the people online has suggested that it is better to extend your visa after the new study permit is getting approved. The immigration will extend the date of your temporary resident visa according to the date of your new study permit. I submitted all the files include my application number of my new study permit (the one which is still in the process). My question is: is it good for me to apply for the temporary resident visa when my current study permit is already expired and my new study permit is still processing. Or it is better to withdraw the application of visa and wait until my new study permit is getting approved and apply the visa agian.

You say your current study permit has expired so what do you believe your current status is in the country ?

You have fallen out of status, your current permit has expired and you did not apply for a extension or a new permit or visitor visa before your previous permit expired. I am not sure what to advise other than I am not sure if you will be eligible for any other permit as you currently don't have legal status in Canada. I would recommend you to wait and see if more experienced users can help you on here or call IRCC Call Agents and ask them what you should do.

no ,I have applied the new study permit 2 months before my current study permit got expired. However, it is still processing . Now, I am in UK and my temporary resident (study) visa is expired as well and last week I have been applied for the new temporary resident visa. The problem is, I do not know should I withdraw this application and apply it after my new study permit is getting approved as I have heard recently that without the new issued study permit been provided, cic could highly likely to refuse the temporary resident visa application. I am not sure if I should withdraw it as although I did not provide them my new study permit, I showed them my application number of new study permit and I showed the enrollment letter issued by my school to prove that I still have half year remaining to finish my study. Therefore, my first question is, should I withdraw it. Secondly, even if my new study permit is getting approved later on,it will be mailed to my dorm in Canada rather than UK,I could not get the scan of it. Therefore,if it is ok to give the immigration my application number and let them do the search or a scanned study permit is a must.
