My husband is a Canadian citizen, but he's currently here with me in Finland and he's a student. During his studies he's receiving study grant from the government in my country. Is that considered to be government financial help? Basically all students here receive it, no matter of your background, unless you're earning salary over a certain limit.

I don't believe that it is. In Ontario, some students are given a chance to apply for financial help through the province. As far as I know this is not considered to be the kind of financial aid that CIC would frown upon. A while back the question was posed the case of OSAP (the Ontario financial assistance for schooling I mentioned above) and it was not considered to be a mark against the sponsor. So in your case, I believe that you're okay. :)

I am also currently in school. I received government grants and took out a student loan and was approved to sponsor my husband from the UK

Phew, so relieved to hear! Thanks for the answers! Did you provide documents about receiving the grants and loan, or just explained?
