I'm really struggling to find the right route in for me and my fiancé, we are both highly skilled in our jobs. I'm a farrier and hold a diploma after doing 4 years training, and my fiancé is a heavy duty mechanic with a diploma and 15 years experience including his apprenticeship. we thought the skilled workers entry would be our best option but we are now stuck as it is asking us for our qualifications to be checked by a company to compare them to the Canadian equivalent. but I cant find a company to do this they all say they don't do apprenticeships. how else can we apply ???

if you want to immigrate, you will be FST stream. Usually people in that stream have lower CRS and unless they have provincial nomination, they do not reach normal ITA. However every 4-6 months they do a special draw just for FST and that one is much lower.

What you will need to evaluate your education (which can be done). And then you need to prove your work experience (also possible). Check website for more details.

what is fst stream? and lower crs? and what website do i need to check for details? i contacted all of the companies supplied on the express entry form to get our qualifications assessed and none so far will evaluate apprenticeships? sorry for all the questions but im un aware of what the abreviations mean. also my partner has years of working experience, but i have just qualified so i only have the 4 years experience from my apprenticeship.

Express entry has these streams:

FSW - Federal skilled worker
CEC - Canadian Experience
FST - Federal skilled trade

To qualify as a FST you need to have relevant work experience in one of listed trades (which your spouse shall have for sure). Since requirements can be different in different countries (when it comes to trades and certifications), you need to show your education (that is what all those ECA companies will do)
And then of course work experience (just like everybody else, list of job duties, hours per week or year and a salary)

Currently ITA are around 445 CRS points - that is a mission impossible without university diploma unless you have Canadian education or work experience.

But ever so often there is special draw just for FST. There the score can be closer to 300 or even less. And that is the ticket for the best of the trades in.
Optionally there also might be some provinces searching for specific tradesmen. (you need to check provincial programs). PNP does give additional 600 points, which means ITA for sure.

so before filling out the skilled workers entry form , we would be better filling out albertas PNP to see if they are looking for our trades , and then apply for the express entry after?

im still not sure about getting the eca of our qualifications, as i emailed them directly saying what the jobs were and the qualifications, and they said they do not asses apprenticeships so I havent a clue where to go with that now?

You need to have some secondary school, at very least it has to be GED. Many trades do have some specialized secondary or post secondary education. So that is what you need to submit for ECA.

i have gcses but none are relevant to my Job, and we both attended college and recieved a nvq qualification for our portfolios, and then the final diploma is awarded at the end but that is all you recieve from the college for the theory part of your training
