Thanks. Also I believe I will have to apply under FSA. Is that correct. Mine noc occupation is software engineer

I am also confused about this because the CIC website categorically says that you don't get points for self-employed experience for Express Entry. cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1132&top=29

We do not count work experience if you were:
studying full-time while you were working,
self-employed, or
not legally allowed to work in Canada.

I'm applying for FSW where it is counted but this says it's not at least at the EE stage. Can you explain the discrepancy?

Is it true that if we apply under cec rather than fsw there are chances for earning more points as compared to fsw?

Just a generic reply. I hope these will be of help to the posters above (and to others who may be lurking).

* Yes, self-employment outside of Canada counts for FSWP. See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp (check under Proof of Work Experience) (note: this isn't the best source but this is all I could find at this moment).

* Self-employment will not count for CEC. See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=377&top=29 and here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=730&top=29

Hey MooseNbooze, thanks.

Any idea what's up with it specifically saying there's no points for it in the EE application then?

I had self employment in Canada only. So I still need to go for fsw correct ? Since almost last 2 years I am working full time outside Canada
