is proof of fund required for Canadian sponsor and no kids

HI, i thought i read that proof of funds is not required for sponsor when there are no dependents? But IMM 5533 says i am required to submit proof of income,
IF so how much is required for myself and my wife with no dependents.

The sponsor is required to show that she or he can support the sponsored person. There is no specified amount. If you read closely, there's another box that let's you to provide an explanation on how you going to support you and that person.
