Hello all,

I arrived in CANADA on 11th July 2013 on work permit. (Thought PAFSO strike will take long time so came on work permit)
I have already applied for PR application from India in 2012 & Now i got approval email on 30th July to Send Original Passport to New Delhi.

So my question is that
1) is it really required to send Passport for PR VISA, as i am already in CANADA & its just matter of Confirmation Of PR letter?
2) I am here in CANADA with my family, So is it OK that i will only go & carry my family's passport with authorization letter & get it stamped
Or
3) can i send my passport through courier to my home & they send it to New delhi & back to me

please somebody share your experience as they said to submit in 30 days only.

Thanks in advance

1) You will need the visa, as to convert to PR you will probably need to flagpole at the very least.
To reenter Canada during the flagpole process a visa is needed because legally you leave Canadian soil.

2 & 3) I think the answer to both is yes. Others on here will be able to advise.

1. Except as it is illegal to mail/courier passports in/out of India, it may be difficult to find a courier to send it to India.
2. CHC New Delhi will only send the passport to an Indian address.

There is a way around this if you send your passport by courier to relatives in India while not telling the courier what is inside. The relative can get it to the visa office and they can mail it back to the relative who sends it via courier again to you. I am sure some people have done this in the past but note that it is against the law in India to mail passports outside the country. I have no idea what the punishment for that is if you get caught.

When you get your passport back with the PR visa, you can either flagpole at the US border or you can make an appointment at a CIC office in your city to land there or 3rd option, fly out of Canada and come back by plane but that might be expensive if you are not planning a vacation anyway.

Thank guy for reply.

I did few research like
1) Contacted CIC - call center - Answer was: we cant help u as ur file is processing in India,So u need to contact New delhi.
2) Contacted to New-Delhi via phone..they didn't reply well.. & said u need to send passport th8s it.
3) Contacted Indian embassy(BLS -Toronto)- via phone-said its illegal to send passport & didn't answer when i asked can i carry my family's passport.
4) Contacted BLS -Toronto via mail - same answer & said for PR VISA requirement, u need to Canadian immigration as you want PR for Canada

my next question is that:
1) my family member needs to land with me only or can i land them later via flagpole? (as i mentioned them as accompany member in PR application )
2) how can i contact Canadian immigration?

If you are the primary applicant, you either have to land first or with the others. If you plan to go to India with the passports yourself and stay until you get them back, you would land as you return to Canada and you can flagpole with your family later so they can land.
