Is passport returned after sending a medical request?

I recently received a request from CIC to go ahead with my medical tests. Since passport lies in the embassy, how does one show it when going for medical test? Will it be returned temporarily? Kindly guide as I haven't received any update on it.

PS: is medical call after filing an application sort of a positive sign?? :

Go with a photocopy of ur pp

The medical request email from CIC contains a pdf file which has a medical request form. The form contains a UCI number. Take the print out of that form, and carry any national ID (PAN card, Aadhar card etc). Whenever you visit your doctor for your test.

Passport will only be returned to you after the decision is made by the CIC.

Apparently one of the DMP seemed surprised when she heard that my passport is with embassy. So i thought if it is returned for the duration my test will be going on. The info regarding return of the passport only upon the decision isnt mentioned in the email. Ofcourse its obvious though . But heard from one of the ppl tht it has been returned in some cases. May not be fr student permit then. Plus, i dont see many members here who hv waited for a medicall call as all hv submitted along with the app so wanted to be sure abt it! Thanks.

yes passport is returned, but u must go with

1. original passport n xerox of it, bio data page
2. 5 pics, visa size
3. acceptance letter
4. if u wear glasses thn eye power prescription. Also if u r taking any pills thn go with the prescription of it.

Ohkk..what you are suggesting is now contrasting with what others said where an alternate id card is acceptable if already applied for visa . I guess ill call up the VFS people. directly. Thanks all!

I am waiting still and observed people waiting now over a month for visa.
